AWARD WINNING PHOTOGRAPHER - IS THE STRESS WORTH IT?

YES!! I’ve learned over the years that it’s not only important to invest in bettering yourself through training and learning new things, but you also want to invest in the right opportunities that will challenge you as a person and challenge your skills and techniques as a photographer.

As a member of the PPOC (Professional Photographers of Canada) I have the opportunity to participate in Regional and National Image Competitions.

Active/Accredited members of PPOC are invited to submit images annually to a group of highly qualified judges, all of whom have obtained their Craftsman of Photographic Arts or Master of Photographic Arts designation, and have been trained as jurors.

In judging the images, many aspects are considered including Technical Ability; Story-Telling; Impact; Composition and more.  There are a wide range of genres that allow photographers to exercise their creative talents. These include everything from Architecture; Animals; Fine Art; Editorial; Portrait; Experimental; Industrial; Newborn and so much more.

From the submitted images deemed worthy of inclusion in the final Salon Exhibition, those which stand above the rest are awarded scores of Merit, and the small number which are deemed to be truly exceptional images are awarded the prestigious score of Excellence.

During April 23rd's , 2022 Ceremony –  4 of my images were selected for exhibition in a National Salon.

My image 'Get back to work Right Meow' also earned a Judge’s Choice Ribbon at the Professional Photographers of Canada’s 2022 annual competition; a National Exhibition celebrating the best of Canadian professional photography.

WOW!! I cant believe it, when I joined the PPOC  last year I really didn't think I'd be ready to enter my images in contests, let alone win awards.  😊
